Working out can be daunting and discouraging. When you and your partner start working out together and are on the same page, but one has maybe better genetics, a better fat-to-muscle ratio and may have been lifting longer than you, these things affect you getting into shape. Although there are all these different factors, let’s just look at one thing: weightlifting technique and the power of tension. One of the biggest factors that determine whether or not you’ll see the results you want comes down to two words: weightlifting technique. If you want to start seeing your efforts pay off, it’s time to learn that it’s not always what exercises you do, but how you do them.
Why tension and weightlifting matters:
There are three main factors that determine how much muscle strength and size you’ll build when you lift: metabolic stress, mechanical tension, and muscle damage. Muscle damage occurs from the work that you do, so we will focus on the first two. Metabolic stress refers to the burning sensation you feel in your muscles as you work out. You can increase the amount of metabolic stress you produce by performing more sets, or more reps inside of those sets. Mechanical tension refers to how engaged your muscle tissues are when you lift.
Many people are unaware of how to achieve the best workout and use the best techniques. As a lot of people spend copious amounts of time trying to achieve the best workout they fail to use techniques that will give them the best results.
Not everyone wants to take the time to learn weightlifting technique. It’s not exactly as much fun as losing fat, building biceps, or seeing your abs pop. After all, making exercise enjoyable will keep you doing it and coming back for more, and that’s when results happen. Yet it is important to workout and use the best techniques. When you are looking to improve your workouts to see the best results, you should consider working out with a personal trainer.
